Smoke-Free Illinois Act

January 1, 2008

As of January 1, 2008 the "Smoke-Free Illinois Act" will replace the "Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act," requiring all public places, including worksites to be smoke free. Smoking will also be prohibited within 15 feet of entrances, exits, windows that open and ventilation intakes. The Act also establishes fines to be assessed to individuals or businesses in violation of the Act.

The City of Genoa has adopted the State Legislation and passed a City Ordinance mirroring the DeKalb County Health Department's fine of $100.00 for violating this Act.
