Housing

Properties in Genoa

Genoa offers a wide variety of housing styles, from stately older homes built primarily around the turn of the century, to modern ranch, contemporary and two-story designs built in increasing numbers in recent years.

There has been a steady movement of people from the Chicago suburbs to DeKalb County in recent years searching for small communities where they can put down roots, raise their families and enjoy a less hectic life style. In towns like Genoa, they can find a sense of community and caring.

To meet the need for more housing in the Genoa area, two large developments have been annexed to the city. Construction of both began in the summer of 1994. Located on the immediate south edge of Genoa is Willow Glen, which is nearing completion with 315 single-family homes. Contiguous to it is Oak Creek Estates, which will eventually have 265 single-family homes and 80 multi-family units.

Other newer subdivisions in the area are Pineridge, north of Genoa with approximately 54 country lots; Oak Ridge, south of Genoa with 24 lots; and Country Creek Communities surrounding the Oak Club of Genoa Golf Course with 44 townhomes and a variety of single family homes on over-sized wooded lots. River Oaks has 68 rural lots ranging from .75 to 7 acres; and Oak Creek Cove offers 37 home sites.
