First, identify if you are experiencing discolored water from only your hot water or only your cold water. If you are only experiencing discoloration in your hot water then you will need to flush out your hot water heater of any built-up sediment. If you are experiencing discolored water from your cold water please contact Public Works at 815-784-2271. There are times when the City's water distribution system may experience a disturbance that results in your water turning orange. The most common reasons are:

  1. Hydrant Flushing
  2. Water Main Break
  3. Distribution System Maintenance
