The City of Genoa is hiring a full-time Police Chief!

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity in a growing community. The Mayor and City Council are seeking a proactive forward-thinking leader to plan, direct, manage and oversee activities, projects and operations of the Police Department including law enforcement, crime prevention, and crime suppression programs. The City has a $3.6 million general fund budget with an established police pension fund. The City has recently adopted a Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan and a Source Water Protection Plan, Unified Development Ordinance, and Watershed Plan will all be adopted/updated within the year.

The City is offering $105,000 +/- for the position depending on qualifications as well as a competitive benefits package that includes a Police Pension.

Required education includes certification as a Police Officer from the State of Illinois and successful completion of the School of Staff and Command or FBI National Academy. Ten years of increasingly responsible experience in the field of law enforcement and three years of a Sergeant or equivalent position is required. Applicants must be competent in federal, state and local law enforcement laws and policies, budget preparation and administration, and have the ability to manage, monitor, evaluate, plan, and develop programs, policy, and train law enforcement personnel.
