The City of Genoa has kicked off a coordinated planning effort to guide decisions over the next several years. Residents and businesses can look forward to opportunities to get involved in developing a comprehensive land use plan, strategic plan, and housing plan.
“There are great opportunities ahead for Genoa,” said Mayor Jonathon Brust. “Undertaking this coordinated planning effort will enable us to take advantage of what comes our way and seek out what our residents and businesses desire. With the changes in the area and our local economy, this is a great time to look ahead in a big picture way.”
Genoa is at the forefront of municipal planning by developing all three plans over the next twelve months. By doing so, each plan will support the other two, making all more user friendly. In addition, there are cost savings by collecting information once rather than repeatedly over several years.
Northern Illinois University’s Center for Governmental Studies will assist the City in preparing the plans, but much of the input will come from the community.
