The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) mandates that all Public Water Supplies develop and implement a cross-connection control program to eliminate existing cross-connections and prevent future ones, ensuring the safety of drinking water systems.
As part of this program, the City of Genoa will conduct a survey of all water customers every three years. In January 2027, Genoa water customers will receive a survey postcard with instructions on how to complete it. The survey is free, takes only a few minutes, and must be returned within 30 days of receipt.
The City has partnered with Aqua Backflow, a company specializing in cross-connection control, to assist with the survey and other program operations. If you require backflow protection, Aqua Backflow may contact you for compliance actions such as testing, repairs, or installations. They can be reached at 847-742-2296 or via email at info [at] AquaBackflow.com for any questions.
The City of Genoa's Cross-Connection Control Program is essential for safeguarding public health, and your cooperation in completing the survey and complying with program requirements is greatly appreciated.
