Web App Instructions
Introducing the new City of Genoa web app! This new web app will allow the City to keep our app up to date with the latest information in a much more timely manner. Our new web app will deliver the same information available on our website and the old iOS and Android apps. The information will even be available if your device doesn’t have an Internet connection as long as you’ve viewed the page previously when your device was connected to the Internet.
If you have the current app installed on your phone that you downloaded from either the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store, you can delete that app from your phone and follow the instructions below to get our new web app on your phone.
iOS Devices
- To add the City of Genoa web app to your iOS device (iPhone, iPad), you first need to open the Safari web browser on your device.
- In Safari, navigate to https://app.genoa-il.com.
- At the bottom of Safari, find the “sharing options” icon and tap it. See the screenshot below.
- After tapping the icon, scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen” and just tap “Done” on the next window.
- That’s it, you’ve now installed the new City of Genoa web app on your phone! You can close Safari and tap on the new icon on your device’s home screen to launch the app.
Android Devices
- To add the City of Genoa web app to your Android device (phone, tablet), you first need to open the Chrome web browser on your device.
- In Chrome, navigate to https://app.genoa-il.com.
- Chrome should prompt you with a message to “Add Genoa to Home screen”. Simply tap on the prompt, tap “Add” on the next window, and then close Chrome. Tap on the new icon on your device’s home screen to launch the app.
- If you aren’t prompted to install the web app on your phone, you can do it manually.
- Tap the “three vertical dots” icon in the top right of Chrome.
- Tap the “Add to Home screen” option and tap “Add” on the next window, and then close Chrome. Tap on the new icon on your device’s home screen to launch the app.
