Arbor Day Celebration

On Friday, April 26th City of Genoa hosted our annual Arbor Day celebration by planting a Swamp White Oak tree. The tree was dedicated to Jan Melton, retired City Arborist and 30-year Tree City USA award winner. Residents and Public Works employees were in attendance as Mayor Brust presented Jan with a plaque to show our sincerest appreciation. In addition to being the City Arborist, Jan pioneered the Genoa Prairie and Woodland for all to enjoy. Thank you Jan for all that you do for Genoa!

Watershed Goals Workshop

The City is hosting a Watershed Goals Workshop in conjunction with Watershed Steering Committee of the Central South Branch of the Kishwaukee River. The workshop will take place on April 18th, 6 pm a City Hall. We encourage those who live or own property within the watershed to attend the workshop to help the Watershed Steering Committee focus on efforts to restore impaired waters and protect unimpaired waters within the watershed.

Christmas Tree Pickup

Waste Management, along with many other services, offers a Christmas tree pickup starting in the last week of December through the end of January. Christmas trees will be picked up on the day of the regularly scheduled refuse and recycling pickup.
